Divine Dragon

    From Shining Wiki

Divine Dragons (神竜,[1][2][3] Shinryū), also known as White Dragons (白き竜,[4][5] Shiroki Ryū; 白きドラゴン,[6] Shiroki Doragon; ホワイトドラゴン,[7] Howaito Doragon) are powerful artificial lifeforms originally constructed by the Ancients of Rune as weapons to fight in the war against Dark Dragon and as guardians of the Manuscript of Secrets.

The Divine Dragons are generally depicted as a dying race that is only able to produce offspring with great difficulty or after a protracted period of decline.

Baryu, the first Divine Dragon in the series, is introduced in the original Shining Force. The character serves as the protagonist of the novel Shining Force: Bloodline of the Divine Dragons.

Thousan is a Divine Dragon who joins Julian's party in Shining Force III Scenario 3.

Shining Force Neo features the appearance of Doryu, a Divine Dragon hatchling with an appearance and background similar to Baryu's.

Both Shining Force: Resurrection and the Shining Force Neo graphic novel include the concept of a singular White Dragon created in opposition to the Black Dragon.

White Dragons in Shining Force III

The Shining Force III setting book contains the following description of White Dragons.[2]

    White Dragons (ホワイトドラゴン)

Highly intelligent dragons known as Divine Dragons. Uniquely, should they die unexpectedly in battle, they reincarnate into new larvae. They live long and their capabilities are great. If they receive the blessing of Light, they grow into true Divine Dragons and become able to breathe thunder.
